Personal Wellbeing

So we all have a "wellbeing bike" that we're riding along our path of life. Ok, work with me here! It's a useful image though when we think about how to help our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.

If we consider the "5 ways to wellbeing" and the "10 keys to happiness" we can represent each of those ideas as a wheel of our "bikes".

The rear wheel which we pedal, represents the wellbeing "actions" . The front wheel which we steer can represent the "thoughts" or "cognitions" that surround our wellbeing.

For ease of (my!) memory I've used acronyms for each of the 5 components for each wheel. The rear (action) wheel is CAMOL and for the front (thoughts) wheel I use GRAPE.

By using the 2 diagrams below, you can plot your daily or weekly wellbeing activities and see if there are any inbalances or perhaps areas that you might want to explore a little more.

Ideally when we're riding along our (sometimes) bumpy "road of life", we'd like our wheels to be symmetrical and as large as possible to cope with the bumps and ruts we encounter.

This however is just like a diary and it should not lead to you feeling under any pressure. It's purely a guide or a helpful indicator....

Remember to think about who is steering your bike too.........
