 Why Whitecat  Wellbeing?
I've been a military aviator with the R.A.F for 40 years, and for the last 20 of those, an instructor and facilitator.

I've seen the importance of kindness, empathy and compassion.

I hold a level 5 diploma in Training and Education, a level 5 diploma in Coaching and Mentoring and a level 7 Diploma in strategic management.

Being especially interested in teambuilding and leadership, I've run a large number of teambuilding and leadership sessions, both as a coach and mentor with military and civilian teams (Bath rugby recently), where communication and "soft" skills are particularly important.

I also act as a performance and life coach for individuals both within and outside of the military.

I'm currently the Human Factors Training Manager at RAF Brize Norton as a Part Time Reservist within the RAF and train around 1500 people a year in HF, soft skills  and effective error management.

I've been an active Human Factors facilitator, a Human Factors Supervisor and TRIM practitioner (Trauma Risk Management) for the last 15 years.

In the last five years I've become a Mental Health First Aid practitioner, both within the Armed Forces and civilian sector. I'm now a First Aid for Mental Health (FAMH) trainer accredited to deliver and award level 3, 2 and 1 courses.

I'm passionate about the importance of Mental Health literacy and empowering people to care for themselves and others.
I've seen that through my previous work with young people as part of the Jon Egging Trust (JET) and also through work as a Crisis Volunteer for SHOUT (a National crisis text line).

I believe that through increasing knowledge and the reduction of stigma alongside the recognition of effective self-care are the keys to improving wellbeing and to gaining parity between our mental and physical health. - Kev

I've been with the R.A.F for 45 years, and for the last 6 years of those in the RAF Reserves. I've spent much of my time in the military developing my instructor and facilitator skills.  While in this sphere, it quickly became apparent that it was important to develop the soft skills required to help the students in my charge.

After a number of Operational tours I saw the need for  Trauma Risk Management (TRIM) and became both a practitioner and Team Leader. As a TRIM trainer,  I've  delivered TRIM courses to over 600 people.

Recently, I've become an active Human Factors Facilitator which is something that has clear links into the Mental Health First Aid area.
Over 7 years ago I become a Mental Health First Aid facilitator, both within the Armed Forces and civilian sector, and I have a wide experience delivering Mental Health First Aid having trained over 1000 people in this subject.

I'm extremely passionate about the importance of Mental Health an d developing skills in people so they can spot the signs and symptoms of ill health and to empower them to care for themselves and others.  - Andy

    Qualified and Empathetic

Our 2-day courses will always be co-delivered wherever possible. Having 2 facilitators offers learners an additional opportunity to hear from another passionate MH advocate who will have experience in a MH related field. All instructors are fully qualified and assured by NUCO. They are tr ained to ensure a safe and supportive environment is maintained throughout the training delivery.
All facilitators also have a recognised teaching qualification (DTLLS or higher) which ensures quality of delivery as well as course content.

                    Support

Both during and after completion of your course, our instructors are able to offer advice and guidance on how to support you and your colleagues as First Aiders for Mental Health. The courses are an excellent way to enhance your own and your organisation's wellbeing strategy. The course content and the HSE website, (and other resources) alongside any existing workplace wellbeing structure will be used by the instructors to help the learning process.
